Learn with R. Barbara: What Do Our Prayers Mean? – Zoom Only
COME LEARN WITH RABBI BARBARA
WHAT DO OUR PRAYERS MEAN?
On Shabbat eve, we untie the tangles of the week and sing Ana B’Choach.
We thank God for the love shown in the gift of Torah, and sing Ahavat Olam.
We say a petitionary prayer, for the shelter to lie down in peace at night and return to life in the morning – and we sing Hashkiveinu.
But where did these prayers come from? How did they originate? What do we make of these ancient prayers and piyyutim, or liturgical poems, in our world today?
Join Rabbi Barbara and your TBE chevruta (study buddies) to dive deep into each prayer.
