Tisha b’Av: Descent for the Sake of Ascent

Join the TBE family for a moving commemoration of Tisha b’Av, traditionally the bleakest day of the Jewish year that is our entrance gate to the High Holy Days. As we recall the destruction of the Temple, exiles and sufferings throughout history, we become aware of our own inner walls and how far we’ve strayed from ourselves. Our descent is for the sake of ascent: with song and prayer, together we begin again the spiral journey back to ourselves, from darkness toward ultimate light.

Tisha b’Av, begins at sundown and is an observance of individual and collective mourning. Customs include wearing black, sitting low to the ground or on the floor, and refraining from food and drink. Thank you for helping honor the spiritual depth and solemnity of this day. Doors will open at 7:15pm; our commemoration will begin promptly at 7:30pm.
