Tisha B’Av (the 9th of Av) commemorates the destruction of the Temple by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, and centuries later, the destruction of the second Temple by the Romans in 70 CE. Sadly, many other tragedies affecting the Jewish people occurred on this date over the course of our history.
