Tisha b’Av – A New Era Arrives
Join Reb David for a moving commemoration of Tisha b’Av, our entrance gate to the High Holy Days. As we recall the destruction of the Temple, and exiles and sufferings throughout history, we become aware of our own inner walls and how far we’ve strayed from ourselves. Together we begin again the spiral journey back to ourselves in darkness, truth, song, prayer and hope.
Tisha b’Av will have begun at sundown on Saturday, July 25. We deliberately come together at the tail end of Tisha b’Av, before sunset on Sunday, July 26, to associate with the New Era that tradition images will arrive at the end of Tisha b’Av – the spiritual uplift after the darkness. Even so, Tisha b’Av is a day of mourning: typical customs include wearing black, sitting low to the ground or on the floor, and refraining from food and drink. Thank you for helping honor the spiritual depth and solemnity of this day.
Doors will open at 7:30pm for a silent period of reflection and meditation; our commemoration will begin promptly at 8:00pm. Please plan ahead for traffic and parking.
