82nd Anniversary Gala Especially Festive

Temple Beth-El of City Island celebrated its 82nd Anniversary with a gala dinner-dance on Saturday, April 1, 2016 at the Pelham Bay and Split Rock Golf Courses.

The festivities began with an Havdallah ceremony as pictured here. Former interns (l-r), Rabbi Eva Sax-Bolder, Rabbinic Pastor Aliza Erber and Rabbinic Pastor David Daniel Klipper are joined by Rabbi Shohama Weiner in leading the brief closing ceremony to Shabbat.

Havdallah_0194In addition to being blessed by and honoring the three former interns, the temple recognized and honored the mission and support of The Bronx Jewish Historical Initiative (BxJHI).
This organization, in partnership with the Bronx Borough President, is an interactive community based project which explores, compiles, records, and shares the extraordinary history of the Jewish community of the Bronx.
BxJHI’s current endeavors include its interactive website, thebronxjewish.org, which offers a virtual locale for Bronx Jewish residents, past and present, to share their stories and photos.     The website also features events as well as information and photos on the history of the Jewish community in the Bronx.
